Move to Astro, without the surprises

Here’s exactly what moves, what we rebuild and what shouldn’t move at all. Your site stays live until the new one has passed.

What moves, and what doesn’t

Comes across

Exported, mapped to your new content model and imported, then checked.

  • Pages, posts and custom content types
  • Media, copied into your storage
  • Categories, tags and authors
  • Menus and comments
  • Titles, descriptions and SEO fields
  • Site name, logo and favicon

Gets rebuilt

Doesn’t import, so we make it again, usually better.

  • Your templates, as Astro components
  • Page-builder layouts, as editing blocks
  • Shortcodes, as blocks
  • Plugin features, as EmDash plugins
  • Forms and their integrations
  • Redirects, for every old URL

Stays where it is

We’ll tell you if this is you, before you spend anything.

  • Large online stores
  • Memberships and paid content
  • Courses and LMS
  • Booking systems
  • Add-ons with no equivalent
  • Weekly page-builder layouts

How the move works

Six steps. The first four happen with your current site untouched.

  1. ExportWe take a full export of your content from your current platform. Your site keeps running.
  2. Import and verifyContent lands in your new CMS, media moves to your storage and links are rewritten. Then we compare it with the original.
  3. RebuildThe design and features are built in Astro, on a private staging link you can click through.
  4. RedirectEvery old URL is mapped to its new home and tested, including the ones only Google remembers.
  5. SwitchWe point DNS at the new site. Your old site stays available until the live one is verified.
  6. ReportYou get the before and after: speed, accessibility, indexed pages and rankings.

Redirects are the whole job

A migration that loses search traffic nearly always has the same cause: old URLs that stop working. So we don’t stop at the pages in your menu. We pull the URLs Google and the Internet Archive know about, too.

On one recent move, about 1,200 archived URLs each got a permanent redirect to their best new page, and every target was checked.

Before you decide

Can my team edit the site without a developer?

Yes. Editors work in an admin, not in code, with pages, posts, media, menus, drafts and scheduling. New pages come together from approved blocks, so they stay on brand without a developer.

Will I lose my search rankings?

No one can honestly promise rankings. What we can promise is the work that protects them: a baseline before we start, a redirect for every indexed URL, the same titles, descriptions and structured data, and a check of each redirect before launch.

What moves from my current site?

Content moves: pages, posts, media, categories, tags, authors, menus and SEO fields. Templates, page-builder layouts and add-ons usually don’t. Those are rebuilt as Astro components, and the migration map shows each one before you commit.

When is Astro the wrong choice?

If you run a large online store, memberships, courses or a web app people sign in to, a platform built for that is usually a better fit. We’ll tell you in the audit rather than sell you a move you don’t need.

See what your move would take.

Send us the site. The audit lists every plugin, page and URL, and ends with a fixed quote or a recommendation to stay.
